Another Successful Trip!

I don't even know how to begin--so here it goes. When we left Benton at 6:30 am we had 5 cars traveling in our caravan. About 8 am we made our first stop and met our five Texas travelers in a light rain fall. That did not dampen our spirits though and we were heading to Little Rock where Doc and Al joined us on I-430. It could not have been any better meeting everyone as planned. We now have 10 Corvettes traveling together and the looks we could not help but receive with that many corvettes in a line.

After a lunch break, we were half way to Branson with our goal time of arrival at 2 PM. When we made our turn on to Hwy 76 in Branson it was 2PM. Perfect timing. The fun of Branson is no one gets in a hurry because you are creeping along the road with a speed of maybe 20 miles per hour. We arrived at our hotel to check-in and there waiting for us was Barbara Kaiser, and 6 of Beverly Tyler's Oklahoma sisters and friends. Just a short time after that Shelby and Kathy were pulling in to the hotel parking lot.

We had a couple of hours to spare before we left for our dinner and show at the Circle B Chuck wagon BBQ. Ok…. Here we go, first I made the wrong turn but since I knew where I was going and how to get there even on the back roads I was Ok….but, for several Al, Jerry, Bev, John, Caroline, Leo, Becky, Helen, Mark and 4 of the Oklahoma friends…that is a story in itself…They got lost! Big time lost. Al driving and Jerry the navigator-- everyone arrived after about 45 minutes just in time to eat. You would have known this group can find the food!! The food and cowboy country music show were both great with plenty of seconds to go around. After this hearty meal we needed to take a walk so downtown we headed. Shopping at Dick's 5 & Dime store, and the Branson Landing (like our Boardwalk) but much, much larger we ended our night about 10:30 or 11pm.

Everyone woke refreshed and ready for our 2nd day of fun. Most had breakfast at the hotel and we just scattered finding something to do in Branson for your own liking is an easy task. Owen, Harriett, Al, J.R. and Jerry ended up seeing an early show--Bill Haley and the Comets at the American Bandstand Theater, Jerry took in the 57 Heaven Car Museum, and the Oklahoma girls and Beverly spent the day shopping. Shelby and Kathy took in the sights of Table Rock Lake. Barbara and Shelley (daughter from Kansas City, MO) enjoyed shopping and catching up talking. Carolyn, Leo, Becky, Mark and Helen found Dairy Queen and Mini-golf to keep them busy. How many games of Mini-gold can one play?? Our newest members, David and Sandy were well broke-in to the RCCC family of fun and adventures with this trip. I hope they will join us again for more fun.

Our day ended with another dinner and show Saturday night at the White House Theater. Luckily everyone arrived on time and no one got lost! Yea. We had another filling meal of Prime Rib, baked chicken, vegetables, and cake. We were having dinner in the East Wing of the White House, and one could almost imagine they were at the White House. The tables were set with fine tableware and crystal glasses. And--after dinner inside the theater: There nothing better than watching J.R. and an “older Christian lady” get into an argument over J.R. wanting to feel her hat!! Go buy your own hat J.R. !!!

Now here is the highlight of the whole trip…Jerry “Doc” being asked to go on stage as part of an act…When we saw Jerry on stage looking like the man himself--ELVIS wearing a wig and dancing on stage with the star singer that sight was worth millions!

We are so proud to have an actor/celebrity in the RCCC club!

Something else worth mentioning about Jerry---a lady fainted in the lobby and our own Doc was there to assist until EMS arrived. Way to go, Doc!

Sunday morning we had breakfast at the hotel -and headed for home. I hope everyone enjoyed themselves and Branson. I know Victor and I had a wonderful time with our Corvette friends. I have only fond memories of this trip and I hope everyone on the trip does too.
