I was somewhat nervous on Wednesday, two days before we were due to leave for Fort Worth. Record setting rain hit the night before and that morning when I was supposed to have a new windshield put in! It cleared up on Thursday and was able to get it installed with no glitches. There were almost as many no shows as there were actual River Cities members in the show! Stuart's future movie star car was the cause of his absence and Robert and Al were late scratches. So it was myself, Owen, Dallas Pebbles and the four Gallineaus all parked within a couple of hundred feet. We dominated!I won second in the C4 coupe class, coming surprisingly close to a tie for first. Owen Whatley won first in the C5 coupe (2001-2004) class and best interior! Dan and Janet Gallineau won first in the C6 convertible class. Danny and Wendy Gallineau won first in the C5 convertible (1998-2000) class. All of these were in the non-member class of course as the members of LSCC are judged separately. Also making the drive over weere the Ferrells, Barrara, and Hensleys. Saturday, right after the awards, we were greeted by a fire alarm and the building had to be evacuated. I had to walk up seven flights of stairs and wake up Patti, who was sound asleep in the room. Then we had to go down seven flights. Of course, like I knew, it was a false alarm. This year I got in four sessions around the track on Sunday, luckily great weather for the third year in a row! I was not able to go near as fast this year, because of slower cars or slower pacing, only a little above 100. Best $50 you will ever spend though. dbriana |
